Celebuzz Tony Scott Death: 4 Latest Developments http://www.celebuzz.com/2012-08-21/tony-scott-death-4-latest-developments/ Aug 21st 2012, 14:51 As Hollywood grapples with the loss of famed director Tony Scott, details continue to emerge about his shocking suicide. Among them: initial reports that the 68-year-old helmer of Top Gun was suffering from brain cancer appear to be false.  Scott jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, Calif., on Sunday. Read on for the very latest developments… 1. Brain cancer story is shadowed in doubt. Craig Harvey, a chief for the Los Angeles coroner's office, said Scott's family has denied that he was suffering from the disease. "The family told us it is incorrect that he has inoperable brain cancer," Harvey told the L.A. Times. In addition, ABC has a backed off its initial — and widely reported — story that claimed the director had the disease. At around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, ABC News posted a new story with the headline, "Tony Scott Brain Cancer Report Appears in Doubt." In it, ABC admitted, "The family of director Tony Scott, who died Sunday after jumping off a Los Angeles bridge, was not aware Scott had cancer." 2. Death video is being shopped. Several witnesses who saw Scott take his leap from the Los Angeles bridge — and who captured the moment on videotape — are trying to hawk the film to news agencies, reports TMZ. According to the site, several people used their cell phone cameras when they noticed Scott climbing over a fence in the middle of the day. The footage was also captured by a surveillance camera belonging to a nearby business. RIP: HOLLYWOOD'S FINEST WHO WERE GONE TOO SOON 15 Photos » 3. Denzel Washington joins Hollywood in mourning Scott. "Tony Scott was a great director, a genuine friend, and it is unfathomable to think that he is now gone," Washington told E! News. "He had a tremendous passion for life and for the art of filmmaking and was able to share this passion with all of us through his cinematic brilliance.  My family sends their prayers and deepest condolences to the entire Scott family." Washington was directed by Scott in the action flicks Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, Deja Vu, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 and Unstoppable. Just yesterday, Tom Cruise — the star of  Scott's Top Gun – said the director was "a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable." 4. Ridley Scott suspends production of The Counselor. Tony Scott's brother, also a famed director, has stopped shooting the all-star drug drama for a week as he travels to L.A. to be with family, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Counselor, a 20th Century Fox film, features Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz and Michael Fassbender.
