
So sad: At a Linkin Park concert in South Africa, a fan died after an advertising column collapsed.
Linkin Park's Nov. 7 concert in Cape Town ended in tragedy, as a fan's life was cut short by scaffolding that collapsed against heavy winds. A total of 19 people were injured when the tower fell, and one woman who was rushed to the hospital was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. So tragic.
The advertising column had been deemed safe by experts before the concert began, but when heavy winds picked up, it came crashing down. Linkin Park members were unaware of the accident while they were performing, but were told afterwards. They released this statement: "Following our performance tonight at Cape Town Stadium, we were advised that several people were injured as a result of the collapse of an advertising tower erected by Lucozade in the parking area outside the venue. We wish to express our deep sadness and concern for those injured and our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fan who died as a result of her injuries. We take the safety of our fans very seriously, and our thoughts are with all of those who were affected by this tragedy." So
