
Joseph 'Jo Jo' McCray was separated from his family who was hunting in the Vermont woods on Nov. 24 -- and ended up spending nearly an entire day alone in freezing temperatures.
Joseph "Jo Jo" McCray, 6, is lucky to be alive after he spent 20 hours alone in the freezing cold Vermont Wilderness. Jo Jo and his family went on a hunting trip on Nov. 24, but shortly after they entered the woods and spread out, the little boy wandered away from the group.
When he did not return to their designated meeting spot at the designated time, his family began to worry -- and called the Vermont State Police around 2:45 p.m. to file a missing persons report. The little boy was not familiar with the area, nor was he carrying a cell phone at the time. More than 100 members of the Vermont State Police Search and Rescue team, Fish and Game Commission, local fire departments, and local residents helped search for the boy, which included fly-overs at night with the help of the Customs and Border Protection department.
