Liam Neeson has a lot to be proud of these days.
The actor’s action sequel Taken 2 is set to win the weekend box office title, with early estimates putting it at $46 million.
That sum would easily secure the top spot over last week’s champ Hotel Transylvania ($25 million).
A trio of very different movies are in a tight battle for third place.
Animated, kid-friendly horror homage Frankenweenie is projected to earn $13 million, just ahead of college a cappella group comedy Pitch Perfect ($12.5 million) and time travel flick Looper ($11.5 million).
It’s a steep drop to #6, which should be the Clint Eastwood baseball movie Trouble with the Curve ($3.9 million).
Then it’s the Jake Gyllenhaal cop drama End of Watch and the Jennifer Lawrence thriller House at the End of the Street, both of which are pegged for $3.4 million.
Two films in limited release — The Master ($1.7 million) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower ($1.3 million) — are expected to wrap up the Top 10 chart.
